Welcome to the program description of the Bachelor of Nursing at the College of Nursing (CNUR) at the University of Duhok. CNUR Mission:
The mission of the Bachelor Degree in Nursing program at the College of Nursing (CNUR) at the University of Duhok is to provide a rigorous and comprehensive education that prepares students to excel as competent, compassionate, and ethical nursing professionals. We are committed to fostering a dynamic learning environment that promotes critical thinking, evidence-based practice, cultural competence, and lifelong learning. Through innovative teaching methods, collaborative research endeavours, and community engagement initiatives, we empower our graduates to meet the evolving challenges of the healthcare landscape and make meaningful contributions to improving health outcomes and advancing nursing practice.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs):
Our course content is reviewed annually to ensure that it is current and relevant. Individual modules are updated or removed on a regular basis. This is in response to findings from our world-class research, funding changes, professional accreditation requirements, student or employer feedback, review results, and changes in staff or student numbers. In the event of a change, we will consult and inform students as soon as possible, and we will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption. We no longer provide unrestricted module selection. If your course included unrestricted modules, your department will provide you with a list of modules from their own and other subject areas from which to choose.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) for the College of Nursing at the University of Duhok:
Patient-Centred Care: Graduates will demonstrate competent and responsible practice by integrating nursing knowledge to provide patient-centred, holistic, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care across diverse patient populations, families, and communities.
Evidence-Based Practice: Graduates will utilize scholarship to evaluate and integrate current evidence with clinical expertise, considering clients' preferences and values, to make informed practice decisions aimed at achieving quality outcomes.
Safety: Graduates will apply clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills to promote a culture of safety, prevent risks of harm, and ensure the well-being of populations, families, colleagues, and the community.
Communication, Teamwork, and Collaboration: Graduates will demonstrate effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues, fostering mutual respect and shared decision-making to enhance knowledge, experience, and health outcomes. They will also collaborate within nursing and interprofessional teams to achieve quality patient outcomes.
Systems-Based Practice: Graduates will recognize the changing healthcare system and demonstrate the ability to access resources in a safe, effective, and financially responsible manner to provide value-based care.

In the event of any changes, we promptly consult and notify students, taking measures to minimise any disruptions. As part of this process, we no longer offer unrestricted module selection. If your course previously included unrestricted modules, your department will furnish you with a curated list of modules from their own and other subject areas for your selection.

Admission Requirements
The College of Nursing (CNUR) at the University of Duhok welcomes applications from qualified students passionate about pursuing a rewarding career in nursing. To be eligible for admission, you must meet the following requirements:
General Requirements:
Citizenship: Be an Iraqi citizen or hold official residency paperwork for the Kurdistan Region.
Age: Be up to 30 years of age at the time of application. (Note: Based on the latest Ministry of Higher Education regulations, 75% of admitted students will be female.)
Application: Submit your application through the national admissions platform, ZankoLine.
Academic Requirements:
Graduate from a High School in the Kurdistan Region: Hold a high school diploma from a recognized institution within the Kurdistan Region.
English Language Requirements:
English Proficiency: The language of instruction at CNUR is English for all courses, except the Kurdistan Studies course, which is taught in Kurdish. Demonstrate sufficient English language proficiency to succeed in the program. Specific English language testing requirements may apply. Please contact the CNUR admissions office for more details.
Graduation Requirements:
To graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from CNUR, you must successfully complete the following program requirements:
Program Learning Outcomes: Demonstrate mastery of the general program and course-specific learning outcomes established by CNUR.
Optional Courses: Complete any selected optional courses offered by the program.
Bachelor's Research Paper: Prepare and defend a research paper as part of your final graduation requirements.
